INKtober 2018, Day Seven: Octopus

I finished week one a couple days ago, but I haven't made much headway in week two. I asked on my Facebook art page if I should stick to animals the whole of INKtober, or if I should change the theme each week, and the vote was in favor of changing, with a request for cartoons. As I have not started week two yet, I will double up, doing both a cartoon ink and an ink of different inanimate objects. I'm determined to finish this INKtober and then probably never do it again, it's too stressful for me. I like drawing and all, but I'm really looking forward to the end of this!

INKtober 2018, Day Six: Bird

INKtober 2018, Day Five: Starfish

INKtober 2018, Day Four: Elephant

I used this one to practice different ink shading techniques.

INKtober 2018, Day Three: Snail

I've been doing much, much better than usual at INKtober this year... But man, have I been bad at uploading those artworks to this blog! I'll explain how this I am going about this INKtober when I post the wrap-up to week one. Until then, here's a drawing of how I feel working through challenges like INKtober...

INKtober 2018, Day Two: Whale

Guys, I promise I've been doing this. I just forgot to post them here, although I remembered to post them elsewhere.

Photo referenced from Google Images because I don't know how to draw animals without reference, hence choosing animals for practice during this INKtober.

Question Number One: Who Is Snoke?

Question number 2: was that a clickbait title?
Answer number 1. I don't know and I also don't care very much. He can be Jar Jar Binks if he wants to be. Or Qui-Gon Jinn. Or even Padme's anonymous father. Or, more likely, Gollum, who feel into lava and somehow was transported through time and space and worlds and grew 5 feet.

Answer number 2: Yes. Yes, it was. "Who is Snoke" is officially the most Googled Star Wars related thing ever and I am using to this is my advantage.

Anyway. I'm sure you guessed this post was something art related. Last night I drew all the characters that I care about from The Last Jedi (and some I didn't care about) (like Snoke) (and Poe). It took about one hour start to finish, collectively. I was originally going for a cartoony style and drew this:

And then I drew this:

And I liked them both.
And then I drew this and hated her eyes:

So I decided the next one would have to be better and drew this:

(After I saw The Force Awakens, I didn't like Kylo Ren but also kind of did and I liked Poe but also didn't. After seeing The Last Jedi I don't like Poe but still kind of do, and like Kylo but also still don't. If that makes sense.)

And those style were so different I had to start over to make them match.

I will not call her simply Rose, I will call her Briar Rose, because she is currently being The Sleeping Beauty. Get well soon, Aurora.
I like how Luke projected himself with short brown hair. I get why he would want to make himself look younger, but he never even had brown hair when he was young. I guess he was insecure about his natural blondness.

🎶It's just a matter of time before we learn how to fllllly🎶

She had the same hairstyle for twenty years and then one dip in a tiny lake ruined it forever.

I did two Finns, too. Finn and Rey are rather worth drawing twice.

Snoke, or, as my mother calls him, "Supreme Leader Snookums".
Where are Holdo and Hux? you ask. NOWHERE. THEY ARE NOWHERE. I WOULD EVEN DRAW POE AND SNOKE,  I MIGHT EVEN DRAW *PHASMA* BEFORE I DRAW THEM. (Notice how I didn't respectfully address them as Admiral and General.) Everyone died or almost died because Holdo wanted to be all secretive and mysterious. And Poe wouldn't have been so annoying if she hadn't been there. And Hux has no personality but I still hate his personality. Also all the droids are missing because I didn't want to draw all that detail on robots. And I didn't care about DJ because he was too confusing. And I stuck Kylo Ren down at the bottom, if you are looking for him.

There were a lot of things in that movie that make no sense but I'm pretty sure that's just because I didn't catch most it, for instance, my sister told me that Rey had probably taken the Jedi texts before Gonzo ascended down from Force Heaven and blew up the Learning Tree. I told her it sounded like she didn't because Yoda says that Rey already has everything she needs from the library,  which I thought meant there was nothing in there that she didn't already know. No... it meant she had everything she needed from the library.... which apparently was the entire contents of said library....... Bri was adamant that she had gotten them, and we argued about that. Come to find out, you can see them when Finn opens a drawer to get the unconscious Rose a blanket. I missed a lot of little things like that, like Ben Solo's calligraphy set (?????) or the fact that Luke's force double uses Anakin's lightsaber when it has already been destroyed. Speaking of which, Anakin used that lightsaber for like, two weeks, and Luke used it for about two years and Rey has used for it two days, and we see Ben Solo use it in the flashback scene, so when he screams that that lightsaber belongs to him, he probably does have more claim on it then anybody. He might have used it for about THREE years.
We also found out Rey is part of The Solo Family. Her family is just herself. As in.....she is solo.....

Now here are some drawings of The Solo Family that I did last year. I didn't post them because there was a tiny little chance I might have had to add Rey, but I didn't, just as I figured.
Alright, everytime I try to put the Kylo Ren drawing on here, it deletes this Han drawing and puts Kylo in his place instead. Really, Kylo? You weren't content with just killing him.... You have to delete him as well.....
Ben Solo's name is Solo because he's so low.

And, to close, here is my favorite drawing of Rey:

Nothing.

*Update: I added above gif because four out of five people thought I was making a joke about how I didn't like Rey and so my favorite drawing of her was one were she wasn't there, instead of the joke being me actually quoting the movie. That is not true. I do like Rey. But I had to add the gif for clarity. The drawing is nothing as in, she is "nothing". (But not to me.)

A Sketch Titled: Pretty Much What My Hands Look Like After I Paint

A.K.A: messy.
P.S. I saw The Last Jedi when it came out on DVD and so that put me in the mood to draw some Star Wars Stuff (which I haven't finished yet- I haven't really finished any of my drawings lately) and so you can expect some of those this month. Or maybe next month. Or maybe never. You can never really know.

The Art Moth Tag

The other day I was wishing I knew more Art blogs I could follow and was wondering how I would be able to find some. And THEN I had the most original idea of the century: I could create an art tag! The blogging world seems to have been taken over by tag after tag, some people doing the same tag twice (because people like me don't realize someone had already tagged them so we tag them again) and some people doing the tags without even being tagged. So I guess having one more tag floating around won't bother anyone.
Anyway, I've never seen an art tag before, and I know all artists are secretly pining for an excuse to talk about their art (why do you think I started this blog?) so I figured there might be a few people out there who would be grateful for this.

Okay, here goes.

The rules:
Answer the questions (the entire point of this tag).
Upload some pictures of your drawings to illustrate (illustrate... Get it?) why you answered the way you did. (E.g. if you say you think you're really good at drawing hair, show us your best hair drawing. It is not necessary to do this for every question, but try for at least most of them.)
Try to tag at least three people whom you know are artists and would like sharing their art. Try not to tag people who have already been tagged. Give a link to their blog.
Copy and paste the rules on your blog.
Link to The Art Moth (shameless self advertising, I know.)

(I'm sorry, but I can only tag one. The entire reason I made this is because I hardly know any art blogs that are still active.)

Now I tag myself first off. (And yes, I will be reusing pictures I've already put on this blog.)

*Ahem*

1. When did you start drawing?

This is the first drawing I did that really inpressed people. I drew it on a whim, I hadn't really ever thought of drawing before. I drew it when I was about eleven. After this, I never stopped.

2. What is your favorite thing to draw?
Faces! I used to draw single left eyes everywhere, but this past year I've been trying to learn how to draw faces without a reference.
Here's what I consider my best face, shadingwise.
3. Have you ever taken drawing lessons?
Not exactly, but my dad helps me often, and I consider that lessons. But this year my Gramma gifted me with a Udemy course in drawing, so I've been taking that, too.

4. How often do you draw?
I used to draw every day, and I've been trying to again, but usually I draw about three pictures a week.

5. Which medium is your favorite?
Watercolor is what I like best, but the medium I'm best at is regular ol' graphite. Lately I've been trying out pen and marker portraits.

6. Do you mostly draw people, animals, plants, or objects?
Definitely people. I very, very rarely draw plants, and objects are just boring to draw. I used to draw animals quite a bit, but I haven't for a while.
This is the last "object" I've drawn.

7. What is something you wish you could draw, but can't? (And all the people said: hands.)
And the person said: hands.

8. Do you finish your sketch books before buying another?
Nope. I have three now that are unfinished and yet I'm still planning on getting a spiral bound one soon.

9. How long does each drawing take you?Cartoon sketches take about ten minutes if I don't color them. A realistic one takes about forty to ninety minutes start to to finish.
(This is what I mean by "cartoon". It took about twenty minutes.)
10: Who is your favorite artist? (Living or dead.)
I really like Anthony VanArsdale's work. I also like Leonardo Da Vanci's unpainted sketches, and there are a lot of Disney artist's work that I like, like Steve Thompson's concept art.

Alrighty! I tag:
Abbie
Sorry, Abbie. You are alone. If you don't want to do this, or if you can't tag anyone, that's completely fine!
Anyone else who wants to do this is very welcome to,  just please comment and tell me so I can check it out!
Okay, bye!!!

Okay, I'm done.

You may have noticed that I have not uploaded any more INKtober drawings. And to tell you a secret I still have not even finished INKtober. So I haven't uploaded them all. I think all in all I did 16 drawings out of the thirty-one I should have. But by now we are almost as close to next October as we are to the last one, and I've waited this long, so I may as well wait that long again. I'm going to start just posting regular art again, and finish this INKtober next October.
Here's what I have been drawing instead of drawing what I was supposed to be drawing!

I don't even remember deciding to draw this. But apparently I did.

All my family members are telling me this is terrifying, and in a way it is, but I have tried and tried to give her pupils and it always looks different from what I'm wanting, so I gave up. (Okay. I'm done.)
I redrew my Kylo Ren drawing because everyone said it was my best, and I have improved in my art, but everyone likes my old one better...? Go here if you want to see my first one.
Something feels a little off on this one, but I can't tell what it is. I love her eyes, though. And they even have pupils!

And there you are. Some art to pass the time as we wait for next October. *sips tea from bowl because I never got around to washing my cup*
